Admitted to Iowa Bar in 1972. A member of The Iowa State Bar Association, the American College of Trust & Estate Council, the American Agricultural Law Association, and the American Bar Association. Has served as City Attorney for Parkersburg, New Hartford, Stout, Aredale, and Greene. Authored the Iowa Legal Forms Probate Manual, 1987. Has taught Agricultural Law course at Hawkeye Community College. Education: St. Ambrose (B.S., 1968); Catholic University of America (J.D., 1971).
Amy K. Swanson, J.D.
Admitted to Iowa Bar in 1994. A member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the American Agricultural Law Association (recently served as Past President of the AALA). Education: University of Iowa (B.A. 1990); Drake University Law School (J.D. 1994).
Has worked with the firm since 1985 and, as of this summer of 2015, is a part-time legal assistant in both the Parkersburg and Greene offices. Works primarily in Real Estate, Probate, and Taxation research. Recently became an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer. Secretary and Treasurer of the Iowa State Trap Shooting Association. Enjoys reading and spending time with her granddaughters.
Karla joined the firm in August 2013, doing payroll, accounting, and other clerical duties. Is married with three sons and two grandchildren. Has served as Secretary of the Iowa Federation of Handweavers and Spinners and President of the NE Iowa Weavers and Spinners Guild.
A new addition to the firm in June of 2015, Jodie lives in Aplington and brings 24+ years of legal assistant experience to Lawler & Swanson, PLC. Enjoys camping and fishing with her husband, children and step-children, 7 grandchildren and dog, Louie.
